See below for ideas and please forward to the bargaining committee.  I tried sending to the bargaining email, but it bounced back saying it wasn’t a valid domain.  Thanks.

Compression pay issue in pay lines pertaining to ISO sergeant.  It may pertain to other sergeants in other divisions.  I’ve spoken with Estwick and Jaworski regarding this issue.  When I initially noticed the pay difference, Tina Little told me to submit it to the bargaining committee.  My scenario:  I have more years of service and more time in ISO, and an individual I supervise with less years of service and less time in ISO is making more per hour.  Possible solution:  Identify the sergeants across all divisions and recalculate their hourly rate.  Change contract verbiage for the future so that a subordinate with less years of service and less time in ISO cannot make more than the ISO supervisor.  There will be scenarios where tenured employees will make more per hour than their supervisor, but this scenario is specific to 2 criteria:  less years of service, less time in ISO…vs….more years of service and more time in ISO.

Offer SLEBC health care to the employee, or the employee/spouse upon retirement at the current rate for employees.  Retirement definition in this scenario would be 25 or more years of service.  From a cost perspective, I think the contract and/or statute verbiage would need to mandate that the employee serves 25 years.  The 25 years would also help with employee retention.  Many other agencies offer health care upon retirement, and I think this would help with employee retention.  If the employee/spouse combination is too costly, at least offer it to the retired employee.

Thanks for the work you do.  Let me know if you have questions.

Subject: [Troopa] Bargaining Team Update

Hi Members,

I wanted to let you know of the Bargaining Team we have in place for the 25-27 SLEBC Contract.

This group was chosen with consideration to ensure we included multiple divisions, different camps and both Trooper and Sergeant ranks.

While every division cannot be on the team, we do still want everyone's input on ideas. Even if we haven't been able or successful at bargaining for your idea previously, please submit it again this year.

Email ideas to the team at: bargainingteam@groups.netreoopers.org
