Hi Members, I wanted to let you know of the Bargaining Team we have in place for the 25-27 SLEBC Contract. This group was chosen with consideration to ensure we included multiple divisions, different camps and both Trooper and Sergeant ranks. While every division cannot be on the team, we do still want everyone's input on ideas. Even if we haven't been able or successful at bargaining for your idea previously, please submit it again this year. Email ideas to the team at: bargainingteam@groups.netreoopers.org SLEBC Board Members: James Estwick, President, Sgt. James, Thank you for the invite of ideas for bargaining. As you may know, I have requested to be appointed on the bargaining team for the past two vacancies, however STAN has selected others for this very important task. With this said, I’m sure the selections will well-represent the agency, but let me offer what I feel we should demand from the state. First and foremost, as much as I am thankful for the raise during the most recent bargaining, it merely placed our wages where they should have been years ago. Thus, a STEP both years, and a raise above that necessary to cover the cost of living for both years should be an absolute must for our bargaining team (especially when considering what another Democratic presidency might cause)! This will, by a long shot, compared to anything else, help every member of the bargaining unit. If this is placed at the forefront, I like the 15 step plan to assure true career growth, as opposed to premature gratification. At a distant second—because it helps a select few, SWAT members need extra compensation when they are engaged in SWAT related duties (much like those already compensated for extra duties). Everything else might be a short-lived, feel good win, but in the end, it’s trivial. The reason I responded to all, instead of just the bargaining unit, is because we are all in this together and transparency is key to assure we are all (or at least most) are on the same page. Well put Sergeant Wiebelhaus. What I'm about to propose, I would assume be more of a legislative issue. Nonetheless it should be noted by the board or perhaps it has been...? I'd like to see us constantly be in the top three highest paid agencies in the State. Colorado State Patrol currently has this written into law and I've attached two links that reference it below. https://codes.findlaw.com/co/title-24-government-state/co-rev-st-sect-24-50-... https://costatepatrol.org/isupportcsp/ Scroll down to Trooper Pay. If we can get a Senator(s) on board with this same idea, I think that it is a good enticement for recruiting and less likely to see folks leave for other agencies. Inv.
