SLEBC Insured -
I wanted to send a quick note as SLEBC has been notified that CHI has officially opted to not renew their contract with Aetna. This is still an ongoing situation and with many similar situations, we have seen agreements reached after the 'deadline'.
We will continue to provide updates as received on the status. Meritain has provided a list of providers who have opted to negotiate directly with CHI linked below. Members who are impacted by this negotiation should have already received notification from CHI regarding the potential to be OON.

If you would like to review out-of-network costs, please see page ten of the attached benefit guide.
If you would like to look up in-network providers, use the Aetna Open Choice PPO network option here<https://www.aetna.com/dsepublic/#/contentPage?page=providerSearchLanding&si…>.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you,
Tara

Elected changes will become effective January 1st, 2025.
If you wish to make changes, please submit the necessary forms for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage - if you do not have changes, you do NOT need to submit forms except for Flexible Spending. If you wish to enroll in Flexible Spending for 2025, you must submit your 2025 Flexible Spending election. FORM LINK<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15OSGRW-DhK6J7JH7NkgodoL46WCkNWPh?us…>
The SLEBC Board is happy to report that we have been able to maintain the same coverages we are accustomed to with an addition of a few items. We are thankful that we do not have any major plan design changes to our medical, dental or vision plans. You will find slight increases in the medical rates due to the increasing costs seen with current inflation along with plan usage.
As a self-funded health plan, this is a direct reflection of you being mindful of your utilization and using the tools available to make good healthcare decisions. We encourage you (and your family) to check in with your primary care provider for your annual preventative visit and continue to work toward being the healthiest you!
Please 🙂 watch a 30-minute review of your benefits here<https://drive.google.com/file/d/173YC9l738b3xZnBX01ho2G9dqo6JAL3n/view?usp=…> <https://drive.google.com/file/d/173YC9l738b3xZnBX01ho2G9dqo6JAL3n/view?usp=…> - you will learn something, I promise!
2025 SLEBC Benefit Changes
• Prescription Benefit Management in 2025 will be ServeYouRx and the formulary should cause very little disruption (less than 10 scripts).
• Nutrition Counseling is now available in-network for a $15 copay with a licensed dietitian or nutritionist.
• Out-of-Network Hearing Aid benefit will mirror In-Network benefits.
• GLP-1 option for weight loss is available at a discounted rate through a reputable pharmacy - this is funded by the member directly.
• There are no changes for dental, vision or additional life and AD&D premiums. There is an increase in your medical premium.

Good evening,
STAN had a meeting last Saturday and here are some notes from it.
* There is talk about being able to get a STAN license plate for your vehicle. We are working through the details, so it is exclusive to STAN members and our family.
* We discussed when we use force while working an off-duty employment, should we be covered under qualified immunity as we are still acting as a law enforcement officer. I am on board with it as we still are required to fill out an NSP803 when we use force during that outside employment. From the sounds of it, we are working with Gary and NSP Legal to work something out.
* One of the bigger topics for us was the integration back into full duty status after being involved in an OIS. With OPDs most recent OIS, the officer was involved in a shooting 2 and a half hours on his first shift back after getting in an OIS 3 weeks prior. Both justified. There were talks about going through a short light duty period or another way to ease them back into work. We are open to thoughts so if you have any, please let me know.
* As I’m sure most of you know, Gordon Downing is coming back to the agency after being gone for 5 years. He will be stationed in Norfolk. From the sounds of it, he will start with ZERO seniority and be placed on step 13 of the Trooper pay line in contract. The justification of his return was that he kept a LEO certification in Arizona where he was a K9 handler. His return will open the door for us to start working on the wording and layout of a Lateral Camp which I believe is good for our agency. If anyone has any heartache, feel free to reach out to me.
* With the change in command structure we are experiencing and going to be experiencing in the next months, the front runner for Col. Bolduc position is Lt. Col. Roby. This is still in the early stages and there is interest from other Police Chiefs across the state for the position.
* Lastly, if you are involved in an IA or get 801’d please let me know. There have been several IAs, 801s and SOFs, that had contract/policy violations here recently. I want to make sure you are all getting treated fairly during that process.
I am new in this position, but I want to be transparent with anything that comes my way.
If any of you have anything that you want me to bring to the board, don’t hesitate to call me at 402-218-8987 or email me.
I know this is wordy, but than you for your time.
Respectfully,
Andrew Bestenlehner
