Some notes from the meeting yesterday: Matt Schaefer - Spoke about the progress of LB196. More to come this week. LEO School carry update - LB1339 made it out of committee and is tied into other school safety issues. Retirement system - NSP Member named (Luke Splattstoesser appointed by Governor.) Shadow box cost - Have not had an LMC meeting yet, on the table for next meeting. Still looking to have state fund more of this cost. NSP Policy Review - Gary is still working with NSP IT due to issues not receiving our policy revisions. State is sending the revisions but they seem to be having problems in the email systems vs noncompliance. Continuing to work on this problem especially with all the continuing changes. Retirement Calculations - Ret. Trp. Maus thought his lawsuit payout was added into his last 3 years for retirement, that is incorrect. That money will not count towards your last 3 years. Dues amount review for Retiree Members - Scott Black wants to try a "retiree retreat" to help keep everyone in the loop on current activities and possibly do away with association dues or even lower the contribution rate for retired members. Currently only 100 retiree association members. License Plates (Zost) - Talking about creating a Nebraska STAN license plate through DMV, STAN would receive $52.00 from each plate purchased. LASIK Discussion - Troopers are interested in this procedure and would like to have it as an option in our medical insurance. Write a letter to SLEBC board if you want/need something covered. Weight loss drugs are not covered and will not be covered at this time (Ozempic, Wegovy, etc.) Bryan Wiggins
